British composer Jonathan Dove has transformed Jules Verne's adventure novel into an opera for children aged 7 and over. The libretto was written by Peter Lund, who is also the stage director. In his version, we accompany Max, a boy who loves to read, as he suddenly finds himself as a Passepartout in the middle of Verne's travel story.

Song Recital

Juan Diego Flórez

He has one of the most beautiful tenor voices of our time, is charismatic and extremely multi-faceted: Juan Diego Flórez not only delights his audiences on the opera stage, he also regularly performs a broad concert repertoire ranging from bel canto to zarzuela and Latin American hits. The recital with which the Peruvian star tenor will be performing at Opernhaus Zürich in December promises to be just as varied. He will be accompanied by his long-standing piano partner Vincenzo Scalera.

Orchestra La Scintilla

Telemann Bach

In Bach's cantata Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, the vocals and trumpet shine in competition with one another. The English soprano Carolyn Sampson has worked as a Bach interpreter with the most important ensembles and conductors of historical performance practice. Riccardo Minasi also conducts the Orchestra La Scintilla in Telemann's Concerto for trumpet, violin and cello.

The transitional building at Opernhaus Zürich

Schäfer Holzbautechnik is currently erecting a single-storey, pavilion-like wooden structure on the roof of our extension building. This 330 square meter transitional building is intended to temporarily relieve our most urgent space problems. We paid a visit to the Aargau-based company in advance and spoke to project manager Stephan Frey about the realization.
