The ballet program Timekeepers consists of three extraordinary works, created 100 years ago. All of them represent the dawn of new forms of artistic expression. Bronislava Nijinska's choreography Les Noces from 1923 (set to music by Igor Stravinsky), meets the contemporary artistic perspectives of two female choreographers in this program. Meryl Tankard references George Antheil's Ballet Mécanique in a new work, and Mthuthuzeli November collaborates with the Ballett Zürich to create a piece to Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin.
In the accompanying workshop series, we will explore how today’s choreographers approach these works artistically and how we in today's audience experience this 100-year leap in time. The series offers exciting insights into the rehearsal process and is rounded off with a joint visit to a performance of Timekeepers.
