Series of workshops «Alabama Songs»
Series of workshops 16+
Kurt Weill's Alabama song has been covered by many pop stars such as David Bowie, The Doors, Nina Hagen. He comes from the song play Mahagonny (1930) by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill and plays in an imaginary paradise city in which everything is allowed. Brecht's time-critical history of morality - freedom - capitalism has many parallels to today. In the workshop series, we learn the Kurt Weill songs, which you can sing without an opera voice and with irony. We search for daily events and texts. The jazz composer Michael Haudenschild helps you to set the lyrics to music as songs. We want to present these as slam evening Alabama songs on 3rd February 2018.
Workshop incl. opera «Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny»: CHF 40
Previous knowledge in singing or songwriting is not required.
