Open group for teenagers and young adults
Since 2015, as part of our so-called hashtag projects, young people have come together at the end of each season on the Opernhaus Studiobühne to publicly present dance and musical theater projects they developed and rehearsed themselves, and prepare them for the stage. They share their stories and their view of the world, and each time present something new, unique, and authentic, as only young people can.
For the new #Takeoff project, three groups of teenagers and young adults, under the direction of three choreographers and inspired by the ballet Les Noces, will explore the transition from youth to adulthood. How do young people experience their departure from childhood and the process of detachment from the parental home? What does it mean to venture out of the safety and warmth of the «nest» into the unknown world? You gather up all your courage and jump in at the deep end, or you are pushed and forced to cut off your braids, as happens to the girl in Les Noces.
All three groups will independently embark on an artistic journey about saying goodbye and setting off. At the end of the process, the resulting pieces are combined into one evening and presented on the studio stage.
