Introductory Matinee Atonement

Ian McEwan's successful novel Atonement, published in 2001, tells of a life spent atoning for an early debt. Cathy Marston is adapting the story for the stage together with Ballett Zürich. In her new ballet - set to commissioned music by Laura Rossi - the choreographer reflects on the minor and major self-deceptions that shape our memories, and on the difficulty of dealing with guilt – the guilt of others, but especially our own. Shortly before the premiere, dramaturge Michael Küster talks to Cathy Marston, Edward Kemp and other participants in the production at the matinee.
