Abstract
Jazz in Paris
Francis Poulenc's Sextet for Piano and Winds, completed in 1932, catapults the listener into the pulsating life of the metropolis of Paris. Like a collage, the hectic voices and noises of the big city meet sentimental, dreamy passages. Like the other members of the «Groupe des Six», Poulenc followed Jean Cocteau's and Erik Satie's demands to let the everyday, the entertaining and the ironic flow into the music. Witty, lively and très français is also the music of Jean Françaix, by whom a quintet for wind instruments will be heard.
After the concert, we look forward to welcoming you to the new Bernadette Restaurant for brunch or lunch à la carte. Reserve your table with a magnificent view of the glittering Lake Zurich and the lively Sechseläutenplatz at +41 44 268 64 64 or online at www.bernadette.ch.
